The Fiat 665/666 series 6 ton truck served in the Italian Army in the Western desert, in Italy and on the Russian front during WW2. These trucks also equipped the 12th SS Panzer Division fighting in Normandy in 1944 when they were seized from the Italians after they ceased fighting in 1943.
The Alfa Romeo 800 8 ton truck also served the Italian Army in the Western desert, in Italy and on the Russian front during WW2. Examples of these trucks were also seized by the Germans and issued to the newly created 12th SS `Hitler Jugend` Panzer Division which fought in Normandy in 1944.
An Italian armoured division had three infantry battalions one of which was the Bersaglieri Motociclisti Battalion containing 3 motocycle infantry companies with support weapons including anti tank guns and a scout company also mounted on motocycles.
