In April of 1862 , Commodore George Hollins of the Confederate States Navy commanded a small flotilla of gunboats at the strategically important location of Island Number 10 on the upper Mississippi opposing the Union fleets southerly progress . The flotilla consisted of the gunboats McRae , Ivy, Ponchartrain, Maurepas, Jackson, Polk, Livingston, the floating battery New Orleans and a small steam launch used for scouting and liason work . ( Hollins used this launch to issue orders to the flotilla as he hadn't got round to devising signal flag system at this time ) Spithead Miniatures in cooperation with Kaz have researched these vessels and using the best information available. This set of models contains 64 resin and small metal parts so will require a degree of modelling skill and a few precision tools to assemble correctly .
